Most smiles that bother their owners have more than one thing going on: color plus a chip, a missing tooth plus worn edges. Treating those one at a time, with separate decisions and mismatched shades, is how smiles end up looking patched. A smile makeover treats the whole picture as one design.

How Dr. Dawood builds a makeover plan

The toolkit

Porcelain veneers for shape, symmetry, and deep color change. Dental implants for missing teeth. All-on-X when a whole arch is failing. Bonding for chips and small gaps. Whitening for color. See real results in the smile gallery.

Three example makeovers (the shapes we see most)

Every mouth is different, but makeover plans tend to rhyme. Three common shapes, described honestly:

The refresh

Healthy teeth dulled by years of coffee and a chipped corner or two. Plan: whitening first, then bonding matched to the new shade. Weeks, not months, and the lightest budget of the three. Most people who think they need veneers are actually here.

The front-six redesign

Shape, symmetry, and color complaints across the smile line: worn edges, uneven lengths, a shade whitening cannot reach. Plan: veneers across the visible front teeth, often with whitening first so the porcelain is matched to the brightest honest version of your natural teeth. This is the classic smile makeover.

The rebuild

One or more teeth missing or failing alongside cosmetic complaints. Plan: implants placed early so bone heals while the cosmetic design is finalized, then veneers or bonding complete the visible smile. The longest timeline and the most planning-sensitive, which is exactly when one dentist owning the whole design matters most.

What "designed for your face" means in practice

A smile is not designed on a shade chart; it is designed against the face that carries it. In a makeover consultation Dr. Dawood is reading things most patients have never thought about: how much tooth shows when you speak versus when you laugh, whether your smile line follows your lower lip, how the corners of the smile fill out, and which imperfections are actually doing work, because a perfectly uniform smile reads as false precisely where a designed one reads as lucky genetics. The shade conversation is equally specific: against your skin tone and the whites of your eyes, the brightest believable white is chosen, not the brightest available one. This is why the design phase precedes any irreversible step, and why the provisional stage exists: you wear the design in real life and the porcelain is only made after your face has voted.

What a makeover consultation actually produces

You leave the first visit with three concrete things. First, a diagnosis in plain language: what is driving the look you want to change, tooth by tooth, which is often different from what the mirror suggests. Second, the plan: which treatments, in which order, over what timeline, with photographs and imaging behind every recommendation. Third, the complete price in writing, including the version of the plan that costs less if a smaller path gets you most of the way there. You are never asked to decide in the chair, and the plan does not expire the moment you walk out; it is yours to think about, compare, or bring back with questions.

That document is also the honest test of any office, including this one. A makeover plan that cannot be written down with its price is not a plan; it is a tab left open in your name.

Why sequence is half the result

Most disappointing makeovers fail in the ordering, not the dentistry. Veneers shaded before whitening end up darker than their neighbors. Bonding placed before an implant crown gets matched twice. A gap restored last forces every earlier shade decision to be a guess. Dr. Dawood sequences the plan so each step locks in the one before it, which is only possible because the whole design lives with one person.

One plan, one price, one dentist. Every makeover is designed, priced in writing, and performed by Dr. Dawood at the Scottsdale studio.

Common questions

What is a smile makeover exactly?

It is not one procedure but a coordinated plan: whichever combination of veneers, implants, bonding, and whitening your smile actually needs, sequenced correctly and designed together so the finished result reads as one smile.

How long does a smile makeover take?

A whitening-and-bonding plan can finish in weeks. Plans involving implants run months because bone needs healing time. Your written plan includes the timeline, visit by visit.

How much does a smile makeover cost?

It depends entirely on the combination of treatments. Each makeover is priced as one complete written plan, presented before treatment begins. The cost pages for veneers, implants, and All-on-X explain what moves each number.
